Mission

Foster informative, open, frequent and interactive multi-level communication amongst the Spatial Community.

Encourage effective communication about the application and integration of spatial sciences technology for decision making and professional development.

Improve communications among the other members of ORURISA and other organizations by providing efficient means to share ideas, discuss local issues and meet with other professionals, students and special interest parties.

Vision

To provide a regionally recognized communication platform for the spatial sciences community that leads, promotes and advocates for alignment of respective issues, strategies and relationships.

Action Items/Deliverables

This team is charged with developing a program that likely includes:

  • An expanded website
  • An Electronic newsletter (No decision reached)
  • Email notifications training
  • Events promotion strategy
  • Memberships promotion
  • Wiki sites knowledgebase
  • A volunteers recruitment strategy 

The team will also be developing Social Networking Initiative (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, other emerging opportunities)

Topic: Development of Guidelines on Email and Communications

The team is in the process of developing a set of guidelines to guide the Chapters practices on sending out emails and posting information on the website.  Here is an early draft of the guidelines
