Members of the Board of Directors and volunteers are presently working on a wide range of OR-URISA projects and initiatives.  The table below provides the status of the projects.

 Project/Initiative  Task/Status Virtual Team/Volunteers
Event - Maps in the Cloud Workshop (November 17, 2011) The event is slated for November 17, 2011. Initial discussions have looked at a joint meeting with WA-URISA with simultaneous meetings going on and broadcast from both locations.  ESRI has agreed to present information on GIS In the Cloud.  Event details need to be worked on to take this from a concept to a real event Events Team - Volunteers to plan the event have included Paul Couey, Nels Michaelson, John Sharrard, Bob Haas, Cy Smith, and Amy Esnard. The event's lead/organizer is Paul Couey.
Event - GIS In Action 2012 (March 2012) The event will be held as a joint conference with ASPRS and PLSO. The dates for the event are March 12-16, 2012 and will be held at the Red Lion - Jantzen Beach.  Event planning is presently underway.  Events Team - Chris Aldrige is leading the effort. OR-URISA's GIS In Action event planning team has once again agreed to participate on the joint planning committee. Bob Pool will also be assisting in the effort.
Event - Leadership Workshop This event is a concept only at this time. It may be conducted jointly by Women In GIS and PAGIS.  The intention is to provide leadership training to OR-URISA members and Young Professionals.  No date/timeframe has been proposed The concept was proposed by Molly Vogt.
Event - 2012 GIS Pro URISA Conference (October 2 - 5, 2012)

Portland is presently being considered as the location of the Fall 2012 URISA GIS Pro Conference.  No commitments have been made but the OR-URISA is actively pursuing the event. A decision is expected from URISA by the end of May.

The NW GIS Users Group has been briefed on the GIS Pro Conference and have agreed to promote the conference and/or to be directly involved in the conference.  Details to be worked out by URISA International.

The Board leadership is working with URISA International to secure the event.  Eric Bohard will coordinate local events related to the Conference and lead OR-URISA's involvement in the event.
Young Professionals Special Interest Group A Young Professionals (YP) Special Interest Group (SIG) is currently taking form. Charter Cabinet Members will be recruited to lead the effort. The YP group is modeled after the Australian SSSI and URISA International YP group structures. Kickoff meeting to be scheduled in late April or early May
Kelly Neumeier, Amy Esnard, Carol Hall and John Sharrard will oversee formation of the YPs SIG.
Newsletter A recommendation coming out of the Board Retreat was to develop an OR-URISA newsletter. Discussions were recently held with Greg Babinski, Editor of the WA-URISA Summit Newsletter, to extend the Summit to include articles from OR-URISA as well.
The Young Professionals SIG (once formed) has been identified as a group to launch the effort in developing the newsletter or content articles in the Summit.
Membership Survey As part of one of the OR-URISA initiatives to build the member community, a survey will be developed to define what it means to be an OR-URISA member. The survey will be released to obtain user community feedback. If possible, the initial survey will be released as part of the GIS In Action follow-up survey  Membership Virtual team - Amy Esnard is leading the effort to draft the survey.
Sections Support Forum An idea recently advanced by Keith Massie was to establish a forum through which Section Leaders can share ideas on what events worked, who good event speakers are, etc. At this time a volunteer has not been identified to advance this proposal.
Section Leaders Manual A manual will be developed to assist Sections in their operations.  The manual will be an adaptation of URISA's Chapter manual.  Volunteers working on the manual include Amy Esnard, Eric Bohard, Keith Massie and Dick Bolen
Volunteers Recruitment A new page will be developed on the OR-URISA website that will provide the ability to post volunteer opportunities by OR-URISA, its Sections, and Special Interest Groups.  The page will also provide the opportunity for individuals to post their interest in volunteering. Communications Virtual Team - Bob to lead the effort to develop the new page
Social Media Efforts are presently underway to identify and take advantage of opportunities for utilizing "Social Media" in the conduct of OR-URISA's activities The Communications Virtual Team is working on this activity and it is being led by Amy Esnard. The YP group may be tasked to pilot the effort.
GIS In Action Registration List & OR-URISA members list Integration Efforts need to be conducted to add new GIS In Action attendees into the OR-URISA contacts list.  This is required since an independent registration system was utilized. The project was identified by Keith Massie. No volunteer has presently been identified.
Wild Apricot Training A training session needs to be conducted on the use of the Wild Apricot Association package. Representatives of SIGs and Sections would be invited to attend. The training would be conducted by Bob Haas and Michael Hansen.
Corporate Sponsorship Program In order to expand OR-URISA's funding sources, the Board has recommended developing a corporate sponsorship program. Other URISA Chapters will be sharing information on their programs at the next Chapter Relations Committee. Bob Haas and Amy Esnard will be leading the effort to develop a program. URISA's model will contribute to the development.
PAGIS Restructuring Greg Newkirk, the leader of PAGIS for a number of years, has recently relocated outside of the area. There is presently an effort underway to explore new directions for PAGIS and to recruit a PAGIS Leadership team.  Nels Michealson has agreed to lead the effort in reconstructing PAGIS and will be organizing a meeting of individuals interested in its activities and operations.
Member Map An idea advanced at the Leadership Retreat was to develop a map that portrayed the locations of ORURISA members.  An issue delaying its creation is that we do not have address information of members/contacts.  The project would collect address information followed by the development of a web-based map. There is no project lead or volunteer assigned to the project at this time.
