Oregon GIS Association

The purpose of the Oregon GIS Association is to increase the knowledge and ability of GIS Coordinators in Oregon, promote the exchange of information among members and the GIS community, promote the Association's unique perspectives, influence State and Federal GIS strategies and legislation, and promote the establishment of data structure and metadata guidelines and standards.

The Oregon GIS Association has been active in the past in a number of areas including:

  • The promotion of data sharing;
  • The development of discalimers and data licensing agreements;
  • The development of state legislation that dealt with the roles of GIS Professionals and licensed Surveyors; and
  • The promotion of legislation that created a recording fee for support of statewide taxlot mapping.

For additional information about the Oregon GIS Association, please contact Dean Anderson, Information Technology Director at Polk County.
