Elections — Board of Directors

Purpose of the Umpqua Basin Users Group — Sharing and promoting GIS information across the Umpqua Basin. UBUG promotes cooperation between agencies and with industry and citizen’s groups.

Presentation —Presentation by John Bischoff and Chris Wayne (ESRI representatives) on ArcGIS v.8.3. ESRI plans to start shipping in January.

Demonstration — Presentation by John Gabriel of a tool developed for the City of Lebannon to automatically calculate the type of property, road width, cost, etc when the city is building new roads for development.

Demonstration — ArcPad. Mobile Application used with hand-held palm-type devices or laptops. Uses the operating system Windows CE.

Discussion — ArcGPS: New extension coming along for ArcGIS; beta version available now. Used for various tracking tasks like tracking vehicles, animals, fish, etc. Output in NMEA format. This extension can collect accuracy info from satellites and attach this info as attribute date to create shape files.
