2023 GIS in Action Conference participants are invited to present a map in a Map Gallery Contest, which includes prizes for the winners.  Maps will be displayed both on poster boards and slide shows. Contestant websites can be accessed with QR Codes.

THE DETAILS FOR DISPLAYING POSTER ENTRIES ARE BELOW


Submitting Map information: 

  • Maps
  • File Formatting
  • File Size
  • Orientation Type




Maps can be any size, but larger sizes are preferred. Maximum poster size is 4 ft x 6 ft and be posted right after registration.

Posters will be formatted as jpg type.    

Can not be size greater than 10 MB.   

Landscape or Portrait


More information will be given to all right before the conference by e-mail.

CATEGORIES

Maps will be judged by conference attendees according to the following categories


  • Cartographic 

 The quality of the visual display

  • Analytic presentation

Communication of meaningful patterns in data

  • Data-Integration

Combining data from different sources


  • Web Applications
Such as StoryMaps, ArcGIS Online, Tableau, Mapbox, Power BI, or Other 


  • Student

Any enrolled in classes pursuing a degree or certificate

  • Display Only

AWARD

Awards will be divided amongst the winners of the categories. The prize amount for the category will depend on how many are entered. The more entered the higher the overall prizes. There may be a second-place prize if more than four contestants are in a category.

Anyone that enters the contest will get a gift. 

REGISTRATION

Registration has the following cutoff date:  Thursday, April 13, 2023, around 5:00 pm in order to create the website online map gallery. 

PLACES THAT MAPS WILL BE DISPLAYED AT THE CONFERENCE 

  • on poster boards 
  • on a webpage (google form) 
  • on slides projection 
  • in the lightning talk session 


Note abstracts, slides, and ballots will have a QR code to link to a web page

 

Lightning Talks 

 When registering for the map gallery can participate in the Lightning Talk Session where you can talk about your map to the conference audience.

PICKUP

Please pick up the poster after the conference to avoid loss of your creative efforts.
